One of example that I totally agree with Fraser is that for every happy customer ask for referrals. Here is a simple way to do this:
1. Ask your happy customer for benefit they've gained.
2. Ask for another benefit
3. Ask if they would recommend you.
4. Ask them who they would recommend you to.
Here's example:
You: Susan, Have you enjoyed the service we gave you?
Customer: Yes, I really liked the way you responded to my urgent call on time.
You: What else did you like?
Customer: It cost me a lot less than I expected.
You: Would you be happy to recommend me?
Customer: Of course I would.
You: So who do you know who is a marketing manager of a new start-up in the photonics sector?
I know. Bizzarely specific. And so it should be.
